Up Hebrew Bible Scripture Alphabet Bartlett Trek Robert's Jerusalem

Need to catch up on your Bible? Well, you can find a King James version up on the Web, and no doubt other versions also. But we're interested here in the translation of words into pictures of beauty and interest.  Some of it hand colored and yet rapidly mass produced, like the N is for Noah you see below. And some pictures, so influential that it is these very pictures that define how we picture the Holy Land today. Visit.

The Finding of Moses N is for Noah, with God for his Guide, Safely he sailed o'er, the billowy tide
The mid and late 19th century taught children their Bible stories through hand colored alphabets and brilliantly colored chromolithographs. Examine both.

Holy Treks

A superb example of one adventurers attempt to be there at Sinai, Bartlett's Forty Days in the Desert, on the Track of the Israelites  - Or a Journey from Cairo to Mount Sinai and Petra.
And, an 1870's printing of perhaps the most famous renditions of the Holy Land in modern times: David Roberts' The Holy Land.
